Abstract
  • Building community describes 30 different services, which between them, are offering family support, alternative homes for children and a variety of housing. They are working towards integration in ordinary local patterns of education, employment and leisure. They believe that everyone with a mental handicap has a right to a valued place in their community - and a contribution to make to its creation as well. Building community offers ideas, encouragement and a starting point for anyone who wants to do the same in their own area.
