Abstract
  • This book provides the results of a confidential enquiry into perioperative deaths conducted with the collaboration of both the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, and the Association of Anaesthetists. The overall findings are reassuring, although several less than satisfactory practices are revealed. The conduct and outcome of this Enquiry will provide a stimulus to quality assurance in medical care. It may also encourage the establishment of further enquiries into other areas of clinical practice.
